Learning new things and looking forward to the weekend

最近我平常只写了英文的blog所以我这次要再练习我的中文 – 在香港已经退步了很快因为我没有每天用. 其实如果我要练习别的语言,应该先写中文的blog然后以后翻译到英文的. 这样子比较辛苦可是还比较好.

I’ve recently been writing mostly English-only blogs so I think I need to begin practicing my ever-worsening Chinese by writing a Chinese blog – I don’t get to practice it everyday like I did before in Xiamen so if I want to continue practicing, I ought to start by writing in Chinese first and then translate it into English…

第一: 最近我在研究很多很多新的电子邮件的事.我在rotten tomatoes的时候已经学了很多可是在alive not dead自动通知邮件和每周时事通讯比较重要所以我比较小心很多新的电子邮件规定/功能. 很多年已经过了我作这样子的工作 – 很多新的垃圾规定/功能已经加了所以我要确认我们的alive not dead邮件不要自动在垃圾箱收到. 而且我也要确认我们不要发太多这样子的通知邮件.希望你们都会喜欢我们不久要开的邮件功能.我觉得这个是我们现在最重要的新功能因为很多用户来注册然后很少回来访问所以要帮给他们通知如果收到新的留言.

1: I’ve recently been studying a bunch of new, arcane email stuff. I already learned alot a long time ago while at Rotten Tomatoes, but I think email will be more important and impactful here at alive not dead – especially the notices and regular email newsletters. As a consequence, I really needed to be more careful this time around and learn all about new anti-spam practices and technology so that our alive not dead emails don’t accidentally get tagged as spam. If it’s done correctly, I really think you guys will enjoy the new features and it will add a whole new dimension in how people use Alive Not Dead. Also, it’s really important because alot of peopl register but don’t frequently return so providing them with updates when they receive new comments or when someone they subscribed to updated will be really useful.

我不知道什么时候会做可是我也要做一个qq/MSN通知功能因为很多大陆的用户很少用电子邮件. 我们最近40%的新注册的用户是大陆来的所以这样越来越多重要.

I don’t know when I’ll be able to get to it but I also want to be able to send notices to users’ QQ/MSN IM’s if they choose to be alerted when they receive new comments. We already have 40% new registrations coming from mainland China and alot of our Chinese users very rarely (if ever) check their email inboxes so it’s an increasingly important feature.

第三: 我们的中文编辑, jojo这个周末要来香港旅游/工作. 很久还没看我的朋友,同事. 我们的办公室基本上都是男孩所以下个礼拜不知道她会跟我们很多男孩一起工作.<br>
#3: Our Alive Not Dead Chinese language editor, jojo is coming to visit us in Hong Kong this weekend for work/vacation. It’s been a long time since I’ve last seen my friend/co-worker. Our office is usually all guys but next week we will be adding a feminine touch to the surroundings. Hope she can stand it…
