Rotten Tomatoes Editorial Coordinator [Emeryville, CA]
SUMMARY: This position will work directly with Binh Ngo,
Editor-in-Chief, and will assist in overseeing additional editors and
interns. Additionally, they will assist in the day-to-day management
and implementation of Rotten Tomatoes site content.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with day-to-day editorial duties
- Write and edit copy for the Rotten Tomatoes site
- Provide oversight and training to additional editors and editorial interns
LINKAGE:
To RT Editorial: As part of RT editorial team
To RT Operations: To provide constructive suggestions for the implementation of content management tools
To IGN Editorial: To coordinate with IGN.com, IGN Filmforce, and other affiliates for cross-site content
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
- 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- A strong commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail
- Strong English reading and writing abilities
- Ability to succinctly summarize information
- Ability to work well with others as well as independently
- Basic knowledge of HTML and Internet skills
- Knowledge and/or experience within an Internet-based organization is a plus

Multiple part-time and full-time contractor-based positions are

Rotten Tomatoes editorial team. Positions are available for
telecommuters or for in-office contractors.

Rotten Tomatoes Web Engineer [Emeryville, CA]
SUMMARY:
This position will be a vital position in Rotten Tomatoes’ small team
of engineers supporting and developing backend and middleware projects
and will report to Stephen Wang, Director of Operations for Rotten
Tomatoes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, develop, and test content management and data integration/implementation systems
- Cooperate with engineers from other IGN divisions and external data companies to integrate external data/code
- Cooperate with Rotten Tomatoes front-end engineers to integrate front-end code and designs
- Complete assigned projects independently, on-schedule, and with reliable code
LINKAGE:
To RT Operations: As part of RT Operations/Engineering team
To IGN Engr.: Cooperating to integrate IGN middleware and backend
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:
- 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (CS/EE a plus)
- Demonstrable experience with PHP, HTML, and SQL (mySQL a plus) a must
- Demonstrable self-initiated web-based projects using PHP, HTML, and SQL a BIG plus
- Prior experience with content management systems a plus
